Dear teachers,
Could you help me with this exercise?
X-Games is popular to us all nowadays, ____ old ____ young.
A. whether...or... B. either... or... C. both... and D. not only...but also...
I feel it difficult do decide between "A" and "C". Can you tell me which is right,and why?

whether... is the best choice because it indicates that the statement (x Games is popular to us all) applies, whichever of the alternatives mentioned (old or young) is the case.
both old and young would also work, as would, not only the old but also the young
I would comment that if you have already said, 'X Games is popular to us all...' then you have already included old and young in that statement. |
