Referendum, the hotly debated issue going around this entire island of Taiwan, is heralded as the greatest milestone for Taiwan to fully grasp the image of complete democracy to the rest of the world while at teh same it's also believed to be the doom deed for every individual of the island to set their future to fatality.
What's referenfum? So far, I know that it's like a voting, and people vote for something most other people agree. Well, to be honest with you, if you asked me what kind of issue of this referendum we're all talking about is, I'd shamelessly say, I have no clew.
This is what I feel about the great national event. We all focused on the talkshows and infomercials and some others tabloids sesational criticisms too much to realize the core issue of referemdum itself.
I personally approve that it seems a bit unproper to hold teh referendum alongside with the presidential election at the same time. Anytime would do but just unnecessary to coinside the election because that might give others some ideas like support-inclination voting or something. People might think it's the hype of the certain candidate's vote-gaining method.
I'll see, no matter it's a dirty trick from the candidates or a must for the timing, it should be clean and clear of the reason why and how we need to have this referendum and what's teh referendum itself and the future prospect after the voting for all the rest of the people of teh island. |

I suppose the referendum you are talking about is to let the people of Taiwan decide whether they wish to become independent of China or not.
A referendum is the fairest way to decide a question of such importance.
Every voter has a chance to cast his or her vote on just this one question.
Because there is likely to be an unpleasant reaction from China if the referendum results in a clear wish to become independent, I think you will see China making serious threats to intimidate the population prior to any such referendum. If that happens, the USA will feel that it must warn China not to take any military action and sooner or later, one of the two may "paint itself into a corner" and be unable to back down without losing face. This is how wars get started and obviously a war between such powerful nations will not be pleasant for anyone on earth. |

Democracy is socialism (check ou what Karl Marx wrote about democracy), and socialism is bad.
Spoken like a true American! _________________ Swati |
