"Exercising is how to lose weight." Is this sentence correct to mean "Exercising is the way how to lose weight"?
Thank you. |

It means "Exercising is the way to lose weight." or "Exercising is a good way to lose weight." or "Exercising is how you can lose weight." "the way how to" doesn't sound good. |

I'm guessing that your native tongue is Chinese and that you learned the phrase "way how" from people who taught you English. Whenever you hear it this way, it is wrong:
Wrong: What is the way how to say it?
Right: What is the way to say it? / How do you say it?
Wrong: I need to know the way how to get there.
Right: I need to know how to get there. / I need to know the way there.
Whenever you are tempted to say "the way how," just say "the way" or "how" and you will be fine. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
