Hi , How are you all

I really need someone to help to do the assesment . .

Compare top down and bottom up approaches to reading. Justify which approach would be suitable to teach a 5 year old and explain the complexity of learning to read.

Table 1. The strengths and weaknesses of the Top Down Approach
Top Down Approach Strengths Weaknesses
1.Whole language
2.Sight words
3.Functional

Table 2. The strengths and weaknesses of the Bottom Up Approach

Bottom Up Approach Strengths Weaknesses
1.Analytic Phonics
2.Emergent literacy
3.Reading readiness
4. Synthetic phonics
5. Jolly phonic

I searched from net but I didn't find what I need !! Crying or Very sad

Waiting for your help . .

This sounds like the key to the discussion on how to teach reading. Didn't you have lectures or examples of them? "top down" probably means going from whole words. "bottom up" probably means starting with phonics, or pieces of words. I think they want you to compare the two theories.
