Please help me to understand this sentence:
Escalator was originally designed as a fairground attraction.
What does "fairground attraction" here mean?
Thank you very much! _________________ There's life, there's hope! |

We sometimes have "fairs" -- celebrations that can last a week or two and for larger areas, can include contests and competitions, shows, and an area with rides, like an amusement park. (Here is a link to California's State Fair, for example. http://www.bigfun.org/ ) A "fairground attraction" would be something that was created for the fair and placed in the fairgrounds (the place of the fair) to attract people and make them interested in attending. |
