The following is my another question:
If it should rain tomorrow, the picnic __________.
(A) might delay (B) will be delayed
(C) should be delayed (D) would be delayed
The answer is (D), but how about (B)? Is there any difference?
Thanks for your timely help. |

"Should" and "will" "be delayed" are stronger and therefore inappropriate.
On the other hand, to me, "would" implies that the weather tomorrow is unknown and pairs well with "If it should" and the less stronger "would" is more appropriate as opposed to the mandatory nature of "should" and "will". _________________ Educe22 |

It's a hypothetical situation that requires the subjunctive mood. D. is correct. |
