Hello,
My name is Christina, but people keep calling me Christine. Is Christine short for Christina? Should I correct them when they call me Christine?
Thanks for answering my questions! |

Hmmm. Christine is not short for Christina. If people call you Christine, correct them (politely! ) Only you can decide what you are happy to be called. My name is Stephen and I always correct people if they call me Steve. As far as I am concerned, Steve is not my name.
I hope this helps, Christina!
Stephen

I agree with Stephen. Only you can decide what you want to be called and when somebody deviates from your preference it is your responsability to correct them. Of course you don't have to be mean about it. My name is William but people who know me call me Will, and anything else gets corrected. |

Also, some countries have the name 'Christine', but it is pronounced closer to 'Christina.' In English-speaking countries, the names are considered to be different from one another, but depending on where people are from you might get some slightly different pronunciations. |
