Festivals are meant to celebrate important times of year.
Could I say "Festivals are meant to celebrate important times of the year."
or "Festivals are meant to celebrate important times of a year."
What is the difference of "of year", "of a year" and "of the year"?

I would say that "of year" would and should not be used.
I would venture that "of a year" is too nonspecific, what year? 2001, 1849?
The best choice is "of the year." To me that implies within the 12 month period from January to December. _________________ Educe22 |
