Should there be "a" in this sentence?
I see firemen fighting (a) fire.

Either one is correct. "A fire" is a specific fire while "fire" used alone is generic and pertains to any fire. _________________ Educe22 |

But if you see the firemen, it sounds to me like it isn't generic, so I'd prefer the one with "a". |
