In the America film "Monk"`, the actress said,"I'm not the girl Friday type."
Would you please tell me why they use "Friday type" here?
Thanks a lot. |

In Daniel Dafoe's classic novel i]Robinson Crusoe the protagonist has a native companion who does everything for him. This companion is called "Man Friday" in the novel.
From that has come the term "Girl Friday", which is used to describe a woman who is employed by many corporate executives to perform all kinds of personal and professional services for them. These women are also known as Executive Assistants or Personal Assistants.
They are usually well-paid. |
