I understand "obsession" involves obsession with the idea, image, desire, feeling.

Then is the following expression acceptable?

"I am obsessed with my weight." (to indicate that I am obsessed with the idea of losig weight.)

In the unlikely event that you are only 'obsessed with the idea of losing weight, including other people's losing weight, say that.
If you are obsessed with personally losing some weight, say 'I'm obsessed with losing weight.'

Thank you for the answer, which was quite quick!

Going back to the expression, "I'm obsessed with my weight," why does it indicate only "I am too thin"?

I think 2006 is right that "I am obsessed with my weight" could mean either you think you are too fat or too thin. But I think it is still possible to use that sentence. You just might have to explain further what you mean. For example: I am obsessed with my weight. I am trying so hard to lose weight that I count every calorie I eat.
