- Why we use SO sometimes in place wife?

I mean what does SO means?

SO? I guess you mean "significant other". This should really be written S.O.
It is a lot of rubbish and you would be much better writing "wife" if you mean wife.
"Significant other" has become a trendy catch - all phrase to mean the person in your life who is most significant to you in a sexual way. (usually) So this phrase can apply to people living together whether they are married or not or even if they are homosexuals.

asterix pretty much has this one. This abbreviation is also seen as S.O., so, or s/o. As mentioned, this can refer to a husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend. If a heterosexual female uses it, she's referring to a boyfriend. If a homosexual male uses it, he means a boyfriend as well. One other thing about it is that having a "significant other" does not always mean that the relationship is serious. Many young teenagers use this term to refer to their boyfriends or girlfriends as well.

There are abbreviations like "bf" and "gf," too.
