Can I insert "that" or "which" between "but" and "I" ?

If your new phone dies, you can go straight to your obsolete box and be up and running in mere moments. Any piece of electronics that is in good condition but I upgrade in pursuit of the Next Great Feature goes into that box. That way, I always have a fallback in case my new toy, er, I mean productivity device, fails.
