To mean, "He hanged himself from a tree," can I replace the "from" with other preposition, such as "at" or "on"?
Do you still use hung as the past tense of hang? Which is more commonly used?
Thank you for your help. |

When you are talking about hanging a person, or a person hanging himself, the past tense is hanged.
You could say he hanged himself in a tree, but from is the better way. |

Thank you very much for the answer.
So "in the tree" is acceptable, but "at the tree" not acceptable?

He hanged himself at the tree tells us where he hanged himself.
He did not, necessarily, dangle from a branch. |
