Q: One of my colleagues lives in the same apartment building that I live in. One evening we had dinner together at a restaurant, and I was about to give her a ride home.

So I said to her, �Since we�re going home together, I will give your laptop in my trunk when you get off.� She instantly made fun of my expression of �going home together� as she argued that some men might interpret it as something else.

So I had to correct myself by rephrasing that �since we are going to the same place together.�

Does �going home together� have some sexual connotation? As a non-native speaker, I wonder what I said had to cause such a big blast.

"Going home together" sounds like you are living together in the same apartment or house.
