On May 27, 1995, our life was suddenly changed. It happened a few minutes past three, when my husband, Chris, fell from his horse as it jumped over a fence. Chris was paralyzed from the chest down, unable to breathe normally. As he was thrown from his horse, we entered into a life of _____with lots of unexpected challenges. We went from the haves to the have-nots. Or so we thought.
Yet what we discovered later were all the gifts that came out of sharing difficulties. We came to learn that something wonderful could happen in a disaster . All over the world people care for Chris so much that letters and postcards poured in every day. By the end of the third week in a medical center in Virginia, about 35,000 pieces of mailed had been received and sorted.
A. disability B. convenience
The answer given is B. I don't think it makes sense in this context. Am I right?
Plus, could you help paraphrase the underlined sentence?
Thanks |

"Convenience" certainly does not seem correct in that sentence.
Oh, and "Yet what we discovered later were all the gifts that came out of sharing difficulties. " means there were good things that resulted from the difficulties. |

So I should use "disability" in the first question???
PS: Do the "gifts" in the second question mean "presents" or "good natures"? |

I think the passage was about Christopher Reeve, from his wife Dana. Reeve became paralyzed after being thrown from a horse, and years later died from complications related to his injury.
He entered into a life of disability, and yet contributed greatly to the cause of spinal cord research. He, in return, was given the gift of life, the kindness of others, and understanding from those who suffered the same fate.
