It's easy to find out about activities available at school. The challenge may be figuring out how much to do. Here are some quick tips:
When you find something you like to do, stick with it.
Don't worry about being president of the club, or captain of the team. The key is whether you've done something significant center stage or behind the scenes.
Give your all to each activity, and, most importantly, to your schoolwork.

What does the underlined sentence mean? Is it meant to encourage us to be president of the club?

Can I say "don't worry about NOT being president of the club", which seems to fit better in this situation.

Am I right?

Thanks

It says you should persevere with the activity you have chosen. You don't have to take a leading role, necessarily.

Thanks for your help, but shouldn't I say" don't worry about not becoming the leader of the activity" ?

Without "NOT", the original sentence makes me think "we should not worry about the situation where we become the leader."

Am I right?

You have a point.

In practical terms though, they mean the same thing.
