The ego has a way of coopting spirit and pretending that everything is going well. Thus we all fall into traps of selfishness and delusion when least expected. The chance remark that wounds someone else, the careless lie, the irresistible urge to cheat are universal. Forgive yourself for being where you are. |
1. What does 'coopting spirit' mean in the quote?
--- *'having control of spirit'?
or
*'making use of spirit'?
or
*'something else'?
2. What does 'when least expected' mean in the quote?
--- *'when one is disappointed with something' ?
or
*'something else'?
3. What does 'being where you are' mean in the quotation?
--- *'being present at the place where you are'
or
* 'something else'
Thanks a lot! |

If you coopt something or someone, you take it over and control it.
Note: Coopt is often spelled co-opt, to emphasize that the word has two syllables.

Something that is least expected is something that you didn't anticipate happening, something that you didn't see coming.

Yes, it means to be present at the place where you are.
Hope this helps _________________ Helping ESL students since 2001!
