Dear Teacher:

I like to listen to the English songs, but sometimes I couldnt understand what it actually means.

My problem is from the song of Adele, someone like you.

I cant understand what this part really means
「I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded, that for me it isn't over」

Thanks for answering my question.

Jerry

turn up means "appear," "arrive."

out of the blue means "unexpectedly."

The person talking is saying that he doesn't want to arrive unexpectedly and without being invited.

Even though he didn't want to arrive, even though he was trying to stay away, he couldn't help it ("couldn't fight it"). The attraction was too strong.

It sounds like the person talking was trying to break off a relationship for some reason, but he is unable to do that - he tries to stay away, but it's a struggle for him to stay away, and he realizes that he is not ready to break the relationship ("for me it isn't over").

Hope this helps Smile
