Good-looking models are laughing from posters.
(= We can see models laughing on posters)
Is the `from posters acceptable or is it a serious mistake. |

That's a serious mistake because it would be difficult to guess your intended meaning. _________________ Visit www.sloweasyenglish.com for material to help you with your listening skills!

It would depend on the context.
If a person was feeling a bit depressed about their appearance, or something like that, and they had the feeling that the women in the posters were actually laughing at them, then "from" would be ok to make the whole thing seem very alive. "From" makes it seem as if the laughter is really moving from the posters to the person.
But if it's not something like that, then it would be a bit strange.
Hope helps,
