One of the things the language teacher should follow in the classroom is to "establish and maintain a cultural island". Does anyone know what it means by "a cultural island"? Thank you.

| It looks like it is referring to immersion. |

A "cultural island" means separate from the teacher's culture and the students' cultureat least an attempt to separate to some degree though the cultures can never be totally separate. It promotes and "education culture", i.e. something unique without one culture or another being overwhelming the classroom activities and learning. _________________ TAO |
