Hi,
I'm wondering if the following sentences are correct or acceptable.
(a) Despite having jumbo-sized bodies and mighty power, elephants are graceful vegetarians, not hunters.
(b) Despite jumbo-sized bodies and mighty power, elephants are graceful vegetarians, not hunters.
(c) Despite their jumbo-sized bodies and mighty power, elephants are graceful vegetarians, not hunters.
Thanks in advance. : ) |

A and C are definitely correct. "Despite" must be followed by a noun form, and the -ing form of the verb counts as a noun for this purpose.
B is also correct, sort of, but doesn't sound natural. Better with one of the words from A or C.
Hope helps,
