I think "as it does" is unnecessary below. Is there any meaning n inserting it?
Chinese writing, consisting as it does of derived characters, can be called logographic (or morphemic) _________________ Hiromichi |

It could be left out.
But it has a little bit of meaning, similar to because.
"consisting as it does of" is like a stylish way of saying "because it consists of"
Hope helps,

IanT: Now I get it. By the way I can say I've got it. Which expression is better here? _________________ Hiromichi |

If you just want to say "I understand" then "I get it" is better.
"I've got it" usually means more like "I've just thought of the solution."
Best wishes,
