The following are my questions:
1. You ________ throw your money away as lend it to him.
(A) may well (B) may as well (C) might well (D) might as well
2. I cant find my car key. I ________ it somewhere at home.
(A) may leave (B) may have left (C) might leave (D) can have left
The answers to 1 and 2 are (D) and (B) respectively. But how about (B) for question 1 and (D) for question 2?
Thanks for help. |

I would say yes to B for number 1, but no to D for number 2.
May and might are becoming more interchangeable, especially in present, future or general meanings.
But "can have left" doesn't exist.
Hope helps,
