Please help me with the following two questions:
(1) A. She always tries her best to offer a helping hand and ask for nothing in return.
B. She always tries her best to offer a helping hand and asks for nothing in return.
Is there any difference between sentence A and sentence B?
(2) When the game ended, every player on our team raised his arms in silver.
What does "in silver" mean in the above sentence?
Thanks for your help. |

There is a small difference between the first two sentences.
In A she is trying her best to do both things: trying to be helpful and trying not to ask for anything. So she might fail at both.
In B she is trying to be helpful (and may succeed or fail), but never asks for anything. The second part is not something where she has to try, she can do it.
For your second question, I'm afraid I've no idea. I've never heard anything like it and it sounds very strange indeed.
Best wishes,
