In my opinion, both are have, if you ever stayed at hostel, you can see the advantages and disadvantages.
if you are a good students, i think, many advantages you will have for example you can discuss with your friends about homework, prepare for exam, and etc.
Beside that, you can manage your time easily because in hostel, the time is very important, you must follow the sequence, time to prep, time for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of it have been arranged.
In other hand, most hostel are have a naughty students, so that this students take advantages when they become a senior students, sometimes they ragging and bullying a junior students because they not satisfied with each other.
