Dear teachers,

Which one is right?

1.
a) They wear a hat.
b) They wear hats.

2.
a) We have a headache.
b) We have headaches.

3.
a) Elephants have a long nose.
b) Elephants have long noses.

I'd say 2 b), 3 both, and one: depends!

If you're talking about a family with all different hats, I'd say b). If it was a definition, like a uniform, both.
