Please help me with the following sentence:
The problem will remain _________ it is left unsolved.
(A) because (B) as long as
I think that both (A) and (B) are semantically acceptable. How do you feel about it? Why?

The more common response would be (B).
The problem will remain as long as it is left unsolved.

Yes. If you wanted to use because, you would have to change it to something like:
"The problem remains because it has been left unsolved"
Still sounds a bit repetitive, though...
