Dear teachers,
Can you help me with the following exercise?
—Shall I turn on the television?
—No,I ________ watch it now. I want to go to bed.
A. shouldn’t B. couldn’t C. would rather not D. might not
The answer given is A, but I prefer C. Which is right ?

I prefer C too!
Though the full version with would sounds a bit formal. I'd rather not is more normal.
Shouldn't suggests that the person wants to watch TV, but is not allowing his/herself to do so.
Both are normal native speech. I wouldn't say one is more correct.
