Dear teachers,

If there are sentences are exactly the same but the beginning, i.e. one starts with a gerund and the other one starts with an infinitive. Could please advise me if there is any difference in meaning to native speaker? Or it is formal vs conversational??

Thank you.

Starting a sentence with a gerund, as here, is perfectly normal in English. To start a sentence with an infinitive can also sound normal and natural. I would say that usually starting with a gerund is easier and more natural sounding than to start with an infinitive, but the exact construction of the sentence might make a difference.

Does that help?
