Hello teacher,
I heard the sentence"over my dead body"recently, so I would want to know whether the sentence is correct or not.Does the sentence mean anything? |

Yep, it's an expression, it just means the speaker REALLY does not like the idea of something happening.
Someone says they want to do X, or X is going to happen...
someone else replies "Over my dead body!"
it's like:
"If you want to do that you'll have to kill me first [and step over my dead body]"
or
"I'll die before I let that happen."
Example:
"David, I'm going to ask your sister out on a date."
"Over my dead body!"
"The government is going to take our land."
"Over my dead body!" |
