I concede that ethnically, we may be Chinese, but as far as our respective governments are concerned, Taiwan and China are two separate entities. I need not point out that the Taiwan is a democratic country while the PRC government is still being run by the communist politburo which have absolutely no regard for human rights. (Still can't openly criticize the PRC government about 6/4 Tiannamen Square in China, can we?) As long as the PRC remains an authoritairan regime, I do not see how unification is possible.
And you mainland Chinese, mind your own democratization process first. Taiwan has done nothing to you. Don't all jump on the political bandwagon and think that Taiwan should be invaded for wanting her own autonomy. |

You PRC people have a high opinion of the PLA's ability. From I have witnessed so far, the only thing that PLA is good at is killing PRC's own people, like they did in Tiannamen Square.
Again, no one wants a war with the PRC. It is the PRC who kept on announcing its decision to invade Taiwan. In short, what PRC is saying is that you taiwanese people can't make your own decision. If you don't do as we say, we'll invade you. Well, PRC go kill some more people of your own. Find some more students in your country to kill, because taiwan will not take your b.s. without a good fight. |

There you go, I can't deop any commments on this issue as I totally have no idea on its backgrounds and the causes and the process and the consequesnces.Becaus of this, I feel impotent to make a commet, or give my opinion. Sigh...
I was kinda educated by my school teachers, primary school teachers. They jsut briefly skimmed through this event when teaching the modern history. Later I heard some of the rumors that 64 event was a slaughter. But is it tue? I mean, is it jsut slaughter , but way behind it there was no conspiracy? Or there was, but the whole event was covered by blood and wrath to dupe the public?
Sigh.... feel branless....

I'm a chinese,I think from ancient to now ,and from now to future and even from futrue to future,Taiwan is always a part of china.Although now somepeople are trying to apart it from china, yet I conclude that this trying will result in a fail at last, because chinese people see the completeness of their country as their utmost interest. _________________ I wish I could make friends around all of the global village, remember I love my friends most. |

I do think TW and China are incorporated, historically as well as economically, and in the future, politically. It is a very important military strategic geographic stronghold which is the last chain of the blockade by the US in the west Pacific ocean. Thank God, our ancestors had at first claimed the sovereignty over TW, which made it sound reasonable for us to shout unification.
I don't dare to imagine what if the B2's, F117A's, F22's were deployed on TW in large quatity.
There's no peaceful unification without mass bloodshed, may it be in the future for the TW issue. _________________ Where there's a will, there's a way |

first of all. leeholan, watch your tone, pointing finger only disgrace yourself.
i agree part of your saying, many things need to be improved on mainland, especially the goverment, but it takes time. and so as that in taiwan.
fact is there is certain rules in this universe that people came from the same wont be willing to be apart, not even think about a war. and i believe thats why most of the taiwanese dont want to be independent and most of the mainland people dont want a damn war!
i am from mainland and i have many friends from taiwan. we have difference, but we centainly share most of the things.
we all want to improve the relationship step by step and i believe it just takes time.
