Survey in Japan: Boys want to become football players and girls want to become food shop owners

A questionnare was held to children in kindergarten and elementaryschool about what they want to become in future. As for boys, foot ball player ranked in top (15.8%),came back to the top after seven years. As for girls, food store owners ranked in top(12.5%).This has continued for seven straight years.

As for boys, base ball players ranked in second(12.7%). This is because of the activity of Japanese MLB players. Sports player could get popularity. Scientist went back to 7th,wich had ranked in top last year for the first time because of winning Nobel Prize by Japanese scientists. Food shop owners, which ranked in 3rd,doctors and carpenters, which ranked 4th, are persistently popular, too. On the other hand, policemen, which had ranked within 10th since the survey began, went out of the rank.

As for girls, kindergarten teacher, which ranked in 2nd(11.0%), and nurses ,which ranked in 3rd(6.8%), was changed from last year. School teacher, which ranked in 4th, went up from 10th last year.

In childhood I wanted to become a scientist like Einstein or a school teacher. What did you want to become in future when you were a child?

Honestly, I had no idea what I wanted to be in the future when I was a child. I didn't really want to think about it, perhaps because I didn't really want to grow up all that much. In fact, I still don't really want to "grow up," even though I am 22. . .

I wanted to be a cake shop clerk, ice cream shop clerk, or flower shop clerk when I was 6 or 7 years old. As I grow up, my dream changes. Sometimes, my dream is to be veterinarian, teacher, fairy tale writer and so on. Now I'm wondering about my future. :? I hope that my absolute future dream will be found in my university days.

I adored to play with snails, frogs and worms, so I wanted to be a vet. When I was 8 I changed my mind, and I chose being a nurse. I planned to be an actress or journalist. Five years ago I decided to study history to be a teacher. During that time I worked with children from poor families and even though it was very difficult work ( and sometimes not very nice, some children weren't able to understand that adults wanted to help them, and they showed open hostility towards me in the beginning ) I became more sure that I was born to teach. Now I'm sure that I want to be a teacher and probably I'll start working in this September. Unfortunately there aren't too many jobs for teachers in Poland and perhaps I won't work as a teacher. And then I will have to kiss my plans goodbay Crying or Very sad Dreams and plans are marvellous things, yet it's so difficult to make them to come true...
