Have you ever taken a nap during your class?[/b] [c
yes, once in government high school class in kentucky i got caught. there was a shelf right behind my neck and it was right after lunch. i found out i could balance my book in front of me and lean back and it looked like i was studying on something.
the day the teacher caught me it was five minutes before the end of class. he quietly motioned for the rest of the students to leave, and sat in front of me waiting for the class- ending bell to ring. i tried to get my sleep in other classes after that. i think i have heard japanese school is longer and harder than american. is that true? _________________ coffeedecafe |

It's been a long time since I actually slept during a class. These days, my classes are at 2:00 or later, so when I get bored, I draw or do other things, because I don't feel like sleeping. |

well maybe that many right after a meal...since the classes may be longer, is a nap to be more alert afterwards, or is information missed by napping? _________________ coffeedecafe |

nap during the lecture or just during homework or discuss period?will i miss something not in my textbook or notes? do i really need the sleep or am i just bored? do the profs let you sleep because they know you are overworked, because they do not care, or because they are nearsighted, and without their glasses on cannot even see you? such a simple question, until we make it difficult!!
will my dreams help me to understand my study? yes? no? _________________ coffeedecafe |

I've never seen anyone sleeping in classes... sometimes students lay their head on the desk but even that most teachers dislike and tell one to stop. The "original" ones ask one, if one's sick..... _________________ "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind." Mahatma Gandhi |

Yes,
Of course,
I am from Spain and I found the phenomenun very natural. For instance, after lunching I found incredible dont be asleep in a Auditorium.
By the way, I met a guy who could be asleep in a table for 10 persons. He had had the ability to sleep during the student meeting and the teacher had woken up him and then he said " I could avoid to have a nap becouse your voice was so harmonious and marvelous". He was very cheeky. _________________ I could dance with you till the cows come home...On second thought, I'd rather dance with the cows when you came home |

I think it is not such a big problem if students fall asleep in Japan because school class is not so important.
In Japan, high school and university entrance exams are the only things that are truly important. For that, you go to juku cram school that makes you study for the test. What does it matter how you do in school if you do well on the entrance exam from studying late at night in juku?
In America, how you do in school is very important to getting into a good university. Even if you do well on the entrance exam or standard scholastic tests, if you do bad in school and get bad grades, you will not get into a university. So a good student will NOT DARE fall asleep. If you sleep, you may miss something important that will be on the next test. If you do bad on the test, you may get a bad grade, destroy your Grade Point Average, and ruin your future chance at university.
Besides, sleeping in class is just rude to the teacher. And if you snore, it is rude and distracting to your fellow students.
If you are planning to be an exchange student to America, you must learn to manage your time better so you sleep during lunch or after school. Sleeping in class will get you in big trouble. |
