There are four skills in enchacing English proficiency, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. acording to the statement, most Taiwan's students are better in reading and writing.
But, the way to improve your writing, especially writing a good composition is--------Practicing!There's no short cut to learn English well,as an olding saying,"Practice makes perfect!" my suggestion is that you can pick up a large amount of useful phrases and good sentence by reading as much as possible. you can increase your vocabulary and improve your writing expression by reading English magazine and Nespaper such as IVY(長春藤) Advenced and TAIPEI TIME, CHINA POST. Make a habit to keep a diary everyday, and do not dare to make error in writing a composition.
Hope you can get any tips to improving your writing ability on your own way!
Best regard.

A Student from S.H.U, Karen.

Composition isn't as much of a challenge. You have time to compose, and you can get many critiques including. Spoken language is more of a challenge. I recommend watching movies for comprehension, and spending a few months in an English speaking country for speaking skills. If you can't travel, hire a native English speaker to converse with you. Email me if you have further questions.

I don't know, if somebody tells me "Don't you dare make an error," I would be afraid. . .

(Perhaps a better way is "Do not be afraid to make errors in compositions.")

For me, speaking English is harder than writing English! I guess that is because I don't get many chances to talk to foreigners. Besides, you have to understand what foreigners say first, and then you are able to make a proper response. I have been learning English at an English cram school in Taiwan for one year, but I still speak poor English. I could handle simple daily conversations with my English teacher if he/she speaks with slow tune. Nevertheless, I could hardly keep pace with my teacher if he/she speaks normally or with fast tune. Although I don't need to speak fluent English on my job since I hardly get chances to meet my foreign clients face to face, I still wish I could speak English with a general level rather than a beginner one. I truly hope I could achive my goal by practicing speaking constantly.
