My second cousin married a Chinese woman, but almost had to smuggle her out of the country before the government finally let her leave. The government wouldn't let her leave because she is very smart and works in technology. Why is that? Does the government have a lot of control like that and if so do you like it? It seems not very free to me. Her parents are trying to live in the US now, too.

The simple reason is that she worked in technology so that she could got some technological secrets.Every country will do so not just only China.

ella,to be a Chinese I want to tell you if you live in China then love her,or get out.I guess you were a Chinese but no more now.Of course I respect your right of choosing nationality yourself, but it doesn't mean that you have the right to slander your motherland, also do not forget the yellow skin, black hair you were born with. It's rather shameful of you.The Chinese people don't like the guy who doesn't like China because we believe 'no country,no family' what our forefather told us.Sincerely hope you will see what I say.

"Ask not what your country can do for you,ask what you can do for your country".We chinese should learn this from the West----my personal opinion.
I don't think there is somewhere perfect in the world, and If you feel the country isn't as you hope.
You can try to change it.anyway, chinese future must be done by chinese ourself.

No any country is perfect !
As a chinese , I really don't like these offensive words to China. even to the Government .
I think your are not good at Chinese history, if you knew, you could realize great changes have taken place in China, I think , most of these changes , depends on the policy from 1978. don't froget this policy were from Chinese government,
every thing has both 2 sides. positive and negative aspects. have a positive attitude towards the world will help you to see it.
I love my motherland, even my motherland isn't perfect ,but nothing is perfect !

HAHA,it is funny. The truth I know is that tibetan is one of the Chinese minorities which has all the same right as the others.
Coincidently,my brother had a seven-days journey in Lhasa in 2001 and visited many showplaces.Meanwhile,he found the people there were very kind and living happily.
So far as I know, the government treats the tibetans as good as the other folks in China, and as a monorities, the tibetan has more positive policies that han which is the only majority, for instance, the central government appropriates great funds to tibet province goverment every year to improve the lives there, tibetans are not limited to have babies, even the tibetan students will politicly increase twenty marks more in their university matriculations, etc,.Well ella, how many should I say on?
Another thing I want you to know is that tibet has become a part of China since hundreds years ago, see?
Your comment refers to that I am in China now,I ought to know the truth very well.Yes,the words above is exactly the truth,if you want know more,I will tell you when I have free time.
ella,I doubt that you are a tibetan?Because the real tibetans will not say such words like you do,they do know who liberated them from the suffering in the old days and gave them much better lives just like everyone in China.Your comment looks like written by someone who has never been to tibet before and has alot of misconceptions and prejudices towards Chinese government and people,it's more like a means of coldwar propagand.
I wish someone who has been China will prove what I say and show every body the truth.

Hi fa6ma,it's glad to hear that.
Actually, the CCTV only shows a very little parts of the Chinese culture.

Of course I am glad to tell you about the culture and traditions in China.but in my opinion, the best way to know Chinese culture is to learn Chinese language so that to learn the Chinese history, because each man has a different way of comprehension to learn the culture, you may find your owns of that.

btw, which parts of Chinese culture and traditions do you more interest in?
