Was Yassar Arafat a charismatic leader against Israeli aggression? Or a supporter of terrorism against innocent cilvilians?

In June 2000 Yassar was offered 95% of Palestinian demands and he rejected peace rather than recognize Israel as a legitimate state.

What will Yassar's legacy be? I tend towards the latter.

Well,it is really hard to judge a hero or a terrorist.Basically,it depends on which side you back up.You are in the country where the propagandas are inclined to palestine, you are supposed to think of him a hero;if you are in the country where the propagandas are inclined to israel, you are generally tending to think that he is a terrorist.

With a new leader for the Palestinians, there is now hope that a Palestine state may exist in the near future.

This morning we have said goodbye to a leader that has dedicated all his life struggling for the rights of his people . He was the father , the brother and the leader . He was a great man . He was a real Palistinian in war or peace . He has never said "no" to peace and he has never given up holding a rifle on the other hand .

Today Arafat is buried , but still is the palistinian people living . The palistinian people will never die because there will be millions of Arafat , they will all struggle to live in peace like other people all over the world .
May Allah rest his soul in heaven . Goodbye Mr. Palistine

As for Asterix and Diana , every time you prove me and other readers that you are both dirty extremists and always blind to truth . IF ARAFAT IS A TERRORIST WHAT WOULD YOU CALL Sharon , that dirty bull of Israel

Ghandi never held a rifle in his hand, and he was able to accomplish much more than Arafat could who held a rifle in his hand. Perhaps, Arafat could have learned something from Ghandi who was able to get the British to withdraw from India.

May the next leader of the Palestinian people NOT be anything like Arafat and NOT even follow in his footsteps. There is now hope for the Palestinian people to have their statehood.

At least, if the people of Israel wanted to take out Sharon, they can always vote him out. When Arafat cancelled all elections, he made himself dictator of the Palestinians. Arafat is no different from any of your Arab dictators who live in rich palaces and spend the money on themselves rather than their own people. Arafat was a corrupted politician who stole humanitarian money that were meant for the poor Palestinians. Haven't you noticed how well his wife has been living in Paris all those years while the people are dining on bread and camel milk? Arafat sends his wife $10,000 every month.

Now, that he's dead, may the new leader of the Palestinian people be nothing at all like Arafat and not follow in his footsteps. There is now hope for the Palestinian people.

The hero for palestinians and arabs, and the terrorsist for the rest.

Lady, do you see how Araffat was burried..... by thousands of his own people. Was it neccesary to have elections? He was a true president. Bush was elected but how he was saluted..... by demonstrations!!

Do you really think something can change with his leaving?
This shocking funeral only showed how Palestinian hated Israils. I don`t believe in any negotiations. New Palestinian leader may decide whatever he wants and even start new negotiations but his people will arrange new terracts. And Sharon understands this, that`s why he`s doing without negotiations.

If the new leader was smart and don't follow in Arafat's footsteps, then he will rein in the terrorists and negiotate wisely otherwise Israel will go ahead with their Berlin Wall so that the other side of the wall can call themselves Palestine for all Israel cares.

The point you are missing, dreamcatcher, is that in the USA you CAN protest against the leader without being shot. Try that in Ramallah or Beijing and see where it leads.

How many people did the tanks injure? None.
Compare that to Beijing.

Asterix, i missed nothing.

If you protest against Arafat you will be shoted by civilian people but not police. And they will claim you. And i can`t imagine how palestinian protest against Arafat, if he is really palestinian. That`s their culture. They shoot but don`t speak because they are still living in the 19th century. They are not civilians like you or Ms.Diana, how they burry leader... you must have seen, that was different from your western funerals.
This is not a question of dictatorship. They know nothing about democracy and they don`t want it. They hate USA, Bush..... everything connected with it.
This is your problem if you can`t or don`t want to understand it. You like Condolisa Rais or Bush wear "pink glasses" believing that they will shout "bravo" if you give them elections. Asterix, they will shout "Allah, return our Yassir for us!".
