Could anyone explain that to me? It sounds a little confusing to me.

I could *use* some challenge.

An example might be when you have a job promotion or are switching jobs. The new job will be much more difficult than your present job. But since you have "gone stale" (gotten bored) with your present job, you welcome the opportunity to try something much more difficult. - to take on the challenge.

Or it could be simpler - You're playing billiards and have won 7 straight games. Someone challenges you whom you've never beaten in your life. But you know you're playing well today, so you welcome the opportunity to try for your first win ever against this person. It was getting a "little old" winning so easily against the others.

Hope that helps.
