Is the sentence below grammatical?

She immediately came to my attention when she first appeared on the stage.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Missdaredevil,

Yes, it's grammatical, but it's not a likely sentence. "Came to my attention" is used like a synonym for "noticed." So it wouldn't be used for something that is obviously present, like a person on stage. It is mostly for things that you were not specifically looking for. For example, "I was in Little Italy yesterday, and it came to my attention that Luigi's Ristorante is now closed up. Does anyone know what happened to it?"

Hope that helps.

Somehow this doesn't sound quite right. I think, grammatically, it is fine, however, there is some tautology implied by the use of immediately and first . I think the sentence would be better with one or the other ommitted.

Hallo!

I have not been around for quite a while. It's great to read answers by asterix, BMO, bud and Helen.

By the way, talking of 'came to my attention', could it be a relative of "surface" ?

oppertunity surfaced, missing boat surfaced etc.

Thanks
