Are these sentences correct:
1-I won't sleep tonight to finish my paper.
2-I didn't sleep last night to finish my paper.
3-I didn't sleep last night in order to finish my paper.
4-To finish my paper, I didn't sleep last night.
Perhaps one should add a comma before the "purpose clause" in 1, 2 and 3? |

I don't know if 1, 2 and 4 are correct or not.
Certainly 1 and 2 would need a comma, as you suggest.
I think 3 is fine without a comma, and it is a natural sentence.
If 1, 2 and 4 are correct, they are NOT good, natural-sounding sentences. They would make a listener/reader pause for a moment in order to make sure they understood correctly. |
