 I don't think "2046" is a goog one, because is depend on so many
Chinese film stars , and their perfemance is so ordinary. Although it have
got so many reward, I think Wang Jiawei just put many big movie stars together in his own movie. :D |

I'm so glad that I can find some Chinese friends on this website.
Hello, licorice-wand. Nice to meet you. I'm a Chinese who live in Suzhou. I don't know whether I can call myself a boy. Just because I'm 23 years old. Are you a high school student or college stugent?
Though I'm not interested in "2046", but I do like American Movies and TV series also. And I do hope I can make friends with all of you here.
Once again, I'm very glad to see you guys anyway. _________________ George Bernard Shaw once wrote: There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart's desire, the other is to gain it.

Hi, Stellara. Please excuse me. Are you a German? 'Cause you kind of strike me as a German. Just by the location information, I'm not very sure that it's a correct guess. However, we're ESL/EFL students and we both wanna improve our English skill, isn't it? So, I hope we will have a good time on this site anyway.
By the way, what does "cu, Sarah" mean? Is it German? _________________ George Bernard Shaw once wrote: There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart's desire, the other is to gain it.

yep, i'm german you've seen it right. i think this site is quite good, and i've found out that i've improved my english writing/discussing skills very much since i know this site! especially my vocabulary has widened because i use new words so often and if i don't know a word, i look it up and by using it i can remember it better
"cu" means "see you" (speak the letters each english: c u sounds similar to see you) and Sarah is my name
what are you studying? i mean, do you study english as a main subject?

Nice to meet you, Stellara. You know, talking always helps. I do believe that nobody can learn English well without using it. Just like what people said "If you don't use it, you lose it". As you said "i use new words so often and if i don't know a word, i look it up and by using it i can remember it better " I think that's what I'm doing now and I have to say: It works!
Well, since you asked it, I think I'd better introduce myself first. As you know, I'm a Chinese, I'm 23 years old, I have just graduated for half a year. English is not my major. I'm a biological engineering major. But it doesn't imply that we don't study English as a main subject. Actually, almost all of students have to study English as a main subject in China. Also English is very important for us to pass the entrance exam for our junoir high school, high school and college. But I think many of us don't use it often and can't even make a simple conversation with foreigners.
I think I was one of those guys before.
Well, I think you have got a simple first impression of mine. How about you? Would you simply introduce yourself for me? You know what, I have never talk with a German. So, you are my first German friend.
Well, I have seen a line written in German from a movie. I don't know whether you had seen it before. The movie's name is "Chasing Liberty" Do you know what the liberty stands for? I can tell you. Liberty is the symbol of the first daughter of USA. I do love this movie. Though it's a story about first daughter, but the story happened in Europe. The first daughter had a wonderful charming adventure with a handsome secret agent in Europe. They had taken a wrong way train while planning to travel from Prague to Berlin and they finally got to Venice. I have seen so many beautiful sights through the movie. I do wanna travel around Europe if only I could. Europe is so mysterious to me Oh, Let's come back to the line. What does "Guten tag" mean in German? and how do you say "goodbye" in German? I heard the hero said a word sounds like" ha be(or ve) lu say" to a German boy. I think he might means "Goodbye!" I I will look forward to reading your message.
By the way, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

hey lucas
thanks for your introduction! what are you doing as an biological engineer?!

cool, i feel honored
okay, so now it's my turn. I'm nineteen years old, in may i'll take my A-Levels and then I will study, probably English and /or communication sciences. i love english and i often read english novels and (to my shame) i have to admit that i read rather english newpapers than german, if at all
to your questions, "Guten Tag" means just "Good Day!" and is a greeting. "Goodbye" is translated with "Auf Wiedersehen"/"Tschss" (or else "Tschau" = "Ciao", informal). i don't know this movie...

Humm.... Acutally I'm not a biological engineer now. I don't get a job yet, and I'm going to acquire a master's degree. Now I'm preparing for the entrance exam for master's program. You see, both of us is going to have our exams. If you want to get a good job, you have to acquire a good mark and a good degree. Well, you mentioned that you're going to take your A-Levels. Let me guess. A-Levels is a entrance exam for college, right? Just like SAT in America. Do you know what the SAT is? Scholastic Aptitude Test. But I think the guys hating the test usually call it Suck Ass Test. That is funny, right?
Well, I see, you do love English and often read novels written in English. Oh, that's great. I think reading is a good way to study English. I'd like to know... What's your favourite novels? Romance, detective novel, Sci-fi or others?
Oh, I see you said "i read rather english newspapers than german"
I'm a little bit curious. Why you would rather read English newspapers than read German ones?
I think I'd like to tell you one more thing about myself. Like you often read novels and newspapers, I often catch American Movies and TV series. I think you might know about " Emule" , right? It's my favourite. And I think Watching the movies with English subtitles is a pretty good way to learn English. Do you like watching TV or movies?

hello!
i rather read english newspaper because then i'm motivated by learning english as well as knowing the news of the day, that's why if i read german newspaper it's sooo boring.. and the english ones are at least written in english, that's what makes them interesting for me.
i can't exactly say what my favourite novels are, because i like so many of them but i love reading thrillers (mainly psychic or science thrillers), romance novels - of course, so good to relax the main criteria for me is that it's logical (so i can understand what's going on, even if it's sci-fi) and exciting. maybe a good love story and i'm totally content
yes, i like watching movies, although i can't watch tv-series in english because our tv just sends german series/movies.. except cnn and bbc but that's boring in the long run, just news, no movies. emula is this download programm-site, isn't it? i've heard of it, although i can't use it because our pc is already so slow
yes, i think sap is almost the same than our a-levels.

Well. You know what? Though I like English too, but I don't like to read English newspaper. Actually, in China, there're very few newspapers written in English. And I don't often read papers. I would rather get informations from the internet than get them from papers. But I will read some magazines sometimes, some PC magazines. Because I'm very interested in many things about PC. Do you know Wi-Fi? Not FIFA
I have had a laptop since last year, a laptop with Centrino technology. So my notebook connect to the internet through a wireless router and a cable modem. So I can link my laptop with internet anywhere anytime in my house. It's so convenient, isn't it?
Oh, gosh, it's so late and already midnight. I'm supposed to sleep right now. I'm very glad that I have gotten a German friend today.
I look forward to talking with you next time.
See you, Sarah. Have a nice day!
BTW, I'd like you to teach me how to say "good night" in German.
