Of particular note are the *Sheryl Crow-penned* "All Kinds Of People" and Tina's galvanizing new version of "Unfinished Sympathy," the *trip-hop* gem originally recorded by Britain's Massive Attack.

a)Sheryl Crow-penned means written by Sheryl Crow?
b)trip-hop means prom?

a) Yes.

b) Probably not. It is probably the wirter's attempt to define a new genre of music using "hip-hop" as a model of the name. I have no idea what kind of music it would be, though.
