What is the difference between a commercial and an advertisement. If a company has something to be shown on a TV, do they say they have a commerical or an advertisement to be aired?
Thanks.

To me, they are synonymous when talking about TV and radio. It could be that in the business world, commercial would be favored over advertisement, but that's a guess. For other media (print, billboards, flyers, etc.), I would never think to call them commercials. To me, they are all advertisements. |
