Have you tried radio streaming? Two stations out of New York that are good are:

www.wfuv.org for music
www.wnyc.org for news & discussion

Both are commercial-free, outside of a few minutes each hour for their own promotions.

Hi!
I can recommend you to use a podcasting. It is a quite new technology that provides something like audio blogging. The audio producers(BBC, and many another sites) are recording their "on air" programmes to mp3, and make available to download it for free from their site or using special software (there are a lot of free programs too), like iPodder. It works as audio blogs. You can subscribe to many sources and have a lot of up-to-date audio stuff every day.
My favourite every morning issue is Today programm on BBC radio 4, you can get more information at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/

Good luck!
