Hi!
It is one of the Informal Contractions that is explained by my dictionary as:
a short form of 'am not', 'is not', 'are not', 'has not' or 'have not'.

So, it could be used in a variety of cases instead of everything Smile I think it isn't appropriate to use it in formal language, but in informal(songs, chatting, etc) it is widely used.

For information about another contractions like "gonna", "gotta" type in google(or another
your favorite search engine) Informal Contractions.

Bye!
