i've made the Certificate of Advanced English exam in march. this is the fourth of five exams:
1. the Key English Test (KET)
2. the Preliminary English Test (PET)
3. the First Certificate of English (FCE)
4. the Certificate Advanced English (CAE)
5. the Certificate of Profiency in English (CPE)

have a look here, it's quite interesting: www.cambridgeesol.org/index
the FCE, CAE and CPE have five parts: Speaking, Listening, Writing, English in Use and Reading.

the cambridge certificates are highly recognised by most of the english speaken universities, colleges and employers.
