Did you read the Harry Potter series ?
Does the series have the American version and the English version?
If so, is there any difference between them ?

thank for your help! Very Happy

from the moment i saw the first and second movie, i thought of reading the books, which actually are much better !

I read the 3rd, 4th and 5th book of the series. The sixth one is already in my country but it's very expensive ( i promise i'm gonna start saving)!

From the books read, i think the best one is the fourth. I just can't wait for the movie !!
Very Happy

And about the version....i dont really know but i suppose there's only one version right? i mean... why would they make 2 if the topic and everything else'd be exactly the same?

no, it's right that there are two versions. the British ones are by Bloomsbury, there are the children and the adult edition, and the American is by Scholastic, Inc.
The British editions differ only in the cover, the adult cover looks just more like an adult book, like literature and not like childrens phantasy Rolling Eyes

But there's a very important difference between the British and the American Harry Potter 6th editions, because in the Bloomsbury edition there is an important text part missing which is written in the Scholastic edition. and this text part gives a whole new interpretation possibility to the scene!
i've heard only of one text part but maybe there are more..
write to me if you're interested, or have a look at this (you have to mark the text within the quotation, i've made it white because it's a really heavy spoiler Wink )

UK edition wrote:
"He told me to do it or he'll kill me. I've got not choice." "Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...when the time comes we can protect him too...come over to the right side, Draco...you are not a killer..." Malfoy stared at Dumbledore. (HBP UK Edition pg 552)

US edition wrote:
"He told me to do it or he'll kill me. I've got no choice." "He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Nobody would be surprised that you had died in your attempt to kill me -- forgive me, but Lord Voldemort probably expects it. Nor would the Death Eaters be surprised that we had captured and killed your mother -- it is what they would do themselves, after all. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...When the time comes we can protect him too. Come over to the right side, Draco...you are not a killer..." Malfoy stared at Dumbledore. (HBP US Edition pg 591)

otherwise there's no real difference between the American and the British editions, else than the cover and the page numbers. the content is the same.

greets

Very Happy Hey everybody who's an HP fan!

Well, I have also read all the books in spanish and english except the 6 one, that I've read it just in english.

Anyway, if you want to contact me and now more about our webpage you can write to me to this email address: [email protected] or you may go to http://soysalada.bebo.com and write a message. I'm Ravenclaw's head house and moderator.

Now, coming back to the Half Blood Prince... I really liked it, it's a bit too sad and sometimes you may feel confused but it is definitely as good as all the others.

Bye. Wink

Hey, I like Harry Potters books, but don`t you think it is a little bit stupid (I dont want to fight) to take it so seriously? I mean its just a book, it`s not real!!!!!!!
What would you do if J.K. Rowling died?

Lmao. That's exactly what my mum says, and well you're way right... but still this friend of mine is doing this webpage for us, spanish speakers, so I want people to go and take a look to it and then maybe participate in the forums...

You know, I took a quiz to know how obssesed I am for Harry Potter and well, I'm just 45% obssesed, that's not much... I'm just a normal fan. And I'm sure there's something you really like too, so don't worry I'm not mad yet. You should go and see the mugglenet forums, this people ARE obssesed indeed!

So, I'll be hanging out news about the site if anyone wants to visit it, anyway...

Bye!

Have a nice day. Wink

Not to worry Manuel... Wink

There're people who've gone angry with me because they think I'm a show off just because I was so excited that HBP was finally relised, that I couldn't stop speaking about it with another friend who's actually my classmate. Just another HP lover could understand us...

You know what? It's so weird to write in English to someone who's a Spanish speaker when I'm a Spanish speaker too. But I reckon it has to be like that, at least in here where we're supposed to practice our English.

He-he! Remember this misterious R.A.B guy?? Well there's this little tiny bit old theory that says it might be Regulus Black, but then there was this dilema that nobody knew what was Regulus's middle name... Now well, the HP lexicon says his middle name is Arcturus, which perfectly fits with R.A.B. I think this is the most accepted theory, I mean in the letter, R.A.B calls Voldemort "Dark Lord", who else than a Death Eater would call him like that? And we certainly know that Sirius's brother was one of them, but died more than ten years ago, probably because of stealing the Horcrux and trying to destroy it...

So, bye then! Smile

Pura Vida!

que bueno! I would have never imagined that. You have to be a real HP fan to figure it out. I had a terrible doubt about that misterious name in the cave. Thanks!!!
I hope its him.

He-he! Very Happy Yeah, you're right! I was impressed when I read that theory too... I'd have never thought it could be him.

I also hope it is Regulus, that'll prove that he was actually good but for some reason decided to join Voldemort and then try to kill him. So, if you want to read more about that theory you should visit www.mugglenet.com or go to the forums, they are quite good. Because as I told you before, most people who go there are a little more of a fan than you or me. They REALLY want to discover what'll happen next.

This is a quote of an article from mugglenet's e-newsletter:

Quote:
WHO IS "R.A.B"?
Written by K'lyssa Selmon
Although there is little-to-no evidence to back it up, the belief that R.A.B. is actually two people seems to be popping up quite frequently. The only argument for this theory seems to be the fact that Dumbledore said drinking the potion could not have been done alone. "The protection was...after all...well-designed," said Dumbledore faintly. "One alone could not have done it..." However, when considering this theory, one must also question why the letter was written singularly, as though only one person was involved.

The idea that Regulus Black is R.A.B. seems to be the most popular and supported theory yet.

The writer of the letter refers to 'The Dark Lord' rather than Voldemort, something we know only Death Eaters do. The only solid information we have on Regulus is what Sirius says about him in Order of the Phoenix; "From what I found out after he died, he got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do
and tried to back out. Well, you don't just hand in your resignation to Voldemort. It's a lifetime of service or death." This excerpt fits with what could've happened to Regulus. Because he was killed around the time the prophecy was given, it is possible that he heard it, panicked about what would be expected of him, and after also being informed of the Horcruxes - set out to find and destroy them.

R.A.B. also seems to have no doubts that he will be
dead before the replacement Horcrux is discovered, "I will be long dead before you read this." Regulus died 16 years ago, and he had to have known that he would be killed for deserting Lord Voldemort - and possibly aiding in his eventual destruction. The person who wrote the letter also seems to be 100% sure that someone is
going to come along and try to kill Voldemort. It's likely that only a Death Eater who heard the prophecy would know this information. So if R.A.B is in fact Regulus, what does the A stand for? In Order of the Phoenix it is mentioned that Sirius and Regulus have an Uncle Alphard.

Dumbledore couldn't have stolen the locket without Harry's help so it stands to reason that R.A.B wouldn't have been able to do it without help also. It is very likely that, if Regulus Black is indeed the mysterious R.A.B, he brought Kreacher with him in to the cave. Kreacher is not a fully-grown wizard so he would have been able to ride in the boat with him, and this would also explain how the locket ended up back at 12 Grimmauld Place.

It seems that the only argument for why R.A.B. can't be Regulus is that it's too obvious. However at the same time, Ron/Hermione was extremely obvious and, well..we all know how that one turned out! Wink

Bye then.
