Monolingual textbooks suitable for middle school

I posted a week or so ago in the Secondary Education forum. Maybe this forum gets more action? I used the Cambridge English for Schools book before. My students, Japanese middle school EFL students, liked the content and the teachers got a lot of mileage out of the support materials. I haven't found...

There may be some titles of interest in the Oxford Bookworms series, amongst the Starters.

Two titles that might work for you are King Arthur and Robin Hood, both of which are in comic strip format.
