"at interval a couple of us almost barged into the "women's" toilet, having been brainwashed to think that women meant 'us'. No kidding! "

i didn't quite get your point. Did any woman tell you that was "the toilet of 'us'" instead of "women's toilet" so that you got confused?

Dear Roger, It's nice to read your post about China here again, I might be sad about those things you pointed out about China but I agree on your criticisim and I believe you criticised because you wanted to help your Chinese students. In fact, most of your criticisim is very much like what I have w...

Dear Roger and Larry, Your replies gave me a thrill and  . No, more than that. "A language becomes a character-defining element in a speaker. " It is so true to me! so, now, this is who I am. Adult students might want to see more "practical results" and "efficiency" of learning other than just enjoying the process of learning aimlessly as kids do, so high level of practicality of your teaching might be a challenge for you. fight with silence

Hi everyone, I am an English teacher in China, today is my first class of the new semester and I found I was faced with the old problem: to make my students talk. As you might know, most of the Chinese students are good at listening other than speaking or sharing their own ideas in the classes of al...
