i am an english teacher in a high school. how can i get my students to remember the words which are not common but important?

i am an english teacher in a high school in beijing in China , how can i get my students to remember these uncommon words but imortant for them ,because these words must be examined .

it's really interesting in china ., as an english teacher ,we are often told to teach our students that we should say how do you do ? if we meet others for the first time.
